Inspired by Majorca's boom in low cost tourism Sangria is a fun lighting collection that explores bottle shapes and party culture. The set is comprised by three hanging lamps that can be used individually or as a group in versatile ways.
Handmade, these are a combination of blown glass and upcycled wine bottles made in Majorca (Spain) in collaboration with Can Gordiola.
Overall the aim of the project is to explore handmade production and attempt to improve its efficiency by combining it with upcycled components.
A mix between blown and recycled glass Sangria lamps are comprised of two pieces: one interior and one exterior.
The exterior piece is hand blown and highlights Can Gordiola's historical and know how expertise in glass blowing.
The interior piece, made from upcycled wine bottles provides colour and a beautiful modular shape to hold the light bulb in place. Upcycling part of the process streamlines the production and provides wonderful mix & match options for personalization. Which combination do you like best?
Please see the video above in order to gain a better understanding of how the Sangria collection is made.
Founded in 1719 Can Gordiola is a 300 year old family glass blowing business that introduced Majorca (Spain) to Venetian glass blowing techniques. Currently one of the oldest artisan brands on the island, it has produced pieces that have become staples of Majorcan cultural heritage.
Known on the island as ‘vidre buffat’ each piece is unique thanks to its distinct bubbles and charming imperfections.
We would like to give a special thanks to NUD Collection for their support and sponsorship of their fantastic electric cables.
